Intelligent Security Systems (ISS) is a leading developer of security surveillance and control systems for networked digital video and audio recording, video image pattern processing and digital data transmission. Executive Team
Dr. Roman Jarkoi, Founder. Chairman, and Chief Technical Officer
Dr. Roman Jarkoi, founder of ISS, began his career in the space and rocket program and as such has extensive experience with developing the sorts of complex algorithms that would later substantially change the world of video security.
Dr. Jarkoi began developing revolutionary multichannel video systems in 1993. The system, which automatically tracked the displacement of objects, had the means of vocal notification of events and controlled the video recording of tape recorder. In three more years, he developed a completely digital system, capable of writing video directly to the hard disks and reflecting live and multiplexed video on the digital monitor. Dr. Jarkoi founded the company based on this innovative technology in 1996.
Aluisio Figueiredo, Chief Operational Officer, Intelligent Security Systems
As Intelligent Security Systems’ Chief Operating Officer, Aluisio Figueiredo is responsible for the day-to-day operations of ISS as well as overseeing the strategic development and execution of the company’s corporate and product plans. Aluisio has been integral to the worldwide expansion of ISS, having overseen staff development and product rollouts in North and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. He has a well-proven ability to motivate staff, and at the same time combines a gift for entrepreneurial flair with a brass tacks ability to manage the bottom line.
Along with his well-honed business skills, he also has a deep understanding of technology, having held positions in the past as a software engineer, systems analyst, and IT manager at various companies, including the ACME Group and Tecnovia Information Systems. Originally from Brazil, Aluisio earned his MBA from Rutgers University and his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Sao Paulo.
Boris Kalk, Chief Financial Officer, Intelligent Security Systems
As CFO of ISS, Boris Kalk is responsible for global financial strategy and day-to-day financial and accounting operations. Kalk has a long history of success with financial management of international corporations as well as founding and directing companies.
In addition to being one of the founders of ISS, he was the founder and director of STI, a California based company. Prior to STI, he founded and directed operations for Lietuvos Spektras, the biggest computer distributor in Lithuania. He also headed up the Institute of System Management in Lithuania.
Kalk graduated from Tomsk University in Russia, with a degree in advanced mathematics, and prior to his entry into the corporate world was an assistant professor at his alma mater.
